how to wrap a wrist with tape

Start the figure 8 by placing a strip of tape over the anchor of the palm of the hand and go through the thumb and index finger (remembering to fold the tape) to the back of the hand, then around the bottom of the hand to the wrist. Kinesiology Tape has been shown to provide support during motion of the thumb and wrist, and has markedly reduced wrist and thumb pain in many subjects*.

As before, we are going to overwrap this tape with our wrist wrap and thumb, going around the front of the thumb, and back to the ulnar styloid. Swelling, discolouration, are also common symptoms. If you do a lot of lifting at work, support is the name of the game – get a wrist support band on to prevent injuries.

Often times the wrist will be warm to the touch as well.

If you injure your wrist in a fall or accident, you may need to wrap it to help with the swelling and to speed up healing. How to Wrap a Sprained Wrist Step 1:

While wrapping use over-under wrapping style and after completion of your taping process test the wrapping by flexing your wrist. Keeping the wrist in a neutral position (wrist should be bent backwards slightly – about 30 degrees), start the tape at the level of the forearm anchor on the back of the wrist by following the black arrows (figure 2). Poor blood circulation can lead to many discomforts. Conclude this taping technique at the level of the palm anchor by firmly following the white arrows (figure 2).

Then, the back of the thumb and head back to the ulnar styloid, before finishing with a complete circuit around the thumb and back to the ulnar styloid again. How KT Tape can help. Continue wrapping in a circular motion up the wrist until you cover the anchor strip on the wrist. Wrist pain can range from mild to severe based on the grade of sprain and the damage done to the ligaments and bones. For the rest of us, predicting an injury isn’t quite so reliable. KT Tape also increases circulation to reduce inflammation and speed the healing process.

Athletes wrap themselves in adhesive bandages to enhance performance, reduce inflammation and prevent injury. Poor blood circulation can lead to many discomforts.

Wrap the tape beneath your wrist, but do check the pressure on your veins and nerves.
