I went with 223 assuming that is what you have and because the Hornady 53 gr V-Max is only made in one caliber that I am aware of and that being 223.


I couldn't find any load data for the 53 gr. Now put the 53gr V-max into a 22-250….I’m sure it would be impressive to say the least. Insults are not answers.

Re: Testing .224 Hornady 53 gr V-max in the AR I've been running the 53 vmax out of my 20" RRA predator pursuit. hey is there anyone out there who re-loads their own .223 ammo in hornady 55 gr. My only experience is with factory loads. v-max bullets, its too much powder because when i seat the bullet i can feel it slightly crushing the powder. 700, 1 in 14 twist/ 38.5 gr. Hornady BTHP for my AR that has a 1-7 Twist with a WOA bbl.

I suspect that the powder you are using is working very well with your 75 grain bullets but is a bit slow for the lighter 52/53 grain bullets. ? Another box was Varmageddon (probably 50-55 gr) I have used 52-53 grain match bullets in my 223's for years( 1/9 twist) I prefer that weight as they always seems to give the best accuracy. When I first got my Savage 223, I bought several different factory loads to see what shot best.
