I would say 25-06 would be better out west with heavier bullets because the larger case capacity would give you higher muzzle velocities. 1 of 2 Go to page. I understand 7mm-08 has a bit more energy and is capable of heavier bullets if I went after bigger critters but the 25-06 looks to be a lot more efficient and flatter shooting. 6.5cm is a close third but it's on the sideline for now. Nothing against the 7mm08,but I don't think there is a much better deer/antelope round than the 270 improved AKA 25-06… Everyone is gaga (ladies included) over this cartridge because it supposedly shoots far and flat with minimal wind deflection and mild recoil.
